My hibernation project is to make a video to accompany the song and I’ll be making it available for downloading.
I threw what I thought to be my “rough first version” up here on a whim one day, eager to share it. But it’s been so well-received, beyond my expectations, I may just move forward with it as is!! ✨
Wow, Jacqueline. This song just knocked my socks off. I've looked everywhere for them, my socks, but I think they were blasted into another dimension. Michelle Shocked, KD Lang, Cowboy Junkies, Françoise Hardy and others come to mind as giants whose shoulders you're standing on, but you remain very much your own wonderful songwriter and musician. Kudos!
Wow!!! ✨ Many many many thanks Sol!!! I am a fan of all those you mentioned. Misguided Angel and Sweet Jane were two of of the very first songs i ever learned to play on guitar! It’s a first draft recording, and I look forward to doing it again- but even better. I was feeding off Demi’s energy with the synchronicities of light and wanted to join the party! ✨🥂🥳✨❤️ PS I really hope you find your socks!!! Hahhahaa!!!
I typed a reply to you about an hour ago...don't know where it went! Yes! I'll do a video at some point once I nail down the song into a more completed version. I've performed it live a few times too with a drummer and my friend Tammy singing harmonies. Could be good to film it next time I have a show. I'm REALLY bad with social media and self-promotion but I'm aiming to remember to get better. :)
I hear you about social media. I've been doing it how long and have, like, a microscopic audience, LOL ... I look forward to the final song and eventual video!
I was expecting the minor 3rd on "all the way to the SEA," but you hit the major instead and I said "Yeah!" aloud. And the guitar has a great groove. Nice! I listened twice. Definitely my favorite of the three songs of yours I have thus far heard.
Wow...thank you so much!!! Two listens is really fantastic feedback and makes me happy. I'm dying to add MORE to it the second time around...like some electric guitar for the second verse, just to make it a bit heavier and grittier before it flows back into the chorus.
The grit of that guitar groove is hot, so yeah—those are good ideas. I might also consider two verses before the first chorus. Establish that groove. Establish that verse. THEN hit the chorus for the first time.
Funny you say that....I had always had that same thought. I wrote it last winter...I think after all this time, I’ve now got one more verse in me to add!
This is amazing. I've been sitting here rewinding and replaying certain parts because it made a mashup in my head I couldn't identify... so I had to pause for a second and then listen a few times to figure out what it was mashing up with because radio-consciousness doesn't let up for one second and it's been on full on signal interrupt mode all day long. LOL!
I finally figured out what it was and it was hard because it was a *specific* version of this song, not the way it was originally crafted or performed.... You'll totally hear it once you play this because you're a musician. <3
It feels like your track was the light and this track was the darkness and my mind made a yin yang out of it... I found the duality. Strange moment. LOL.
Ya...mine is only slightly lighter ;) HA! This is wicked though. Thanks for linking me to it. I've got headphones on because i'm editing an audiobook...and that electric guitar in the left ear is dynamite.

HECK YEAH! That was awesome. I am gonna have to come back and listen again. It moves, man. I love how positive it is and the way you make the music feel like a wide open space that we are traversing.
Okay, so yes we are kindred and thanks for doing this. I am a musician and furious substack junkie. You have shown me a format I can replicate to get some of my music out. A few words, an MP3 and lyrics.
BOOOOM
here is a snippet of next release...

I am so thrilled to have inspired you to see Substack as a venue for offering up your art!! It's pretty fantastic. I love 'culture die in don't talk mode'. Great line. The hockey-stick reference makes me want to ask if you're Canadian?
Yep- I saw that you Aussie’s were also heavily oppressed by nutsos. I'm glad to see you made it out alive...now it's time to create!! Be sure to share what you make with me.
Thank you so much, sister!!
WONDER-FULL!! 🙏
Absolutely you may. I am so grateful for your listening and support. ❤️
Yes we do! 🙂
And thank you so much- I will.

LOL. I would feel the resonance! Pretty darn amazing for a first go. Do you think you'll also do a video version?

Quality over quantity, Sol. 🥰 and thank you again. I’m still laughing at your socks comment. My tummy hurts. 😂
I found them! 🧦
I may be using your comment for a testimonial- especially the “blasting socks into another dimension” part...it’s just way too funny

I am sure you do—there is plenty to say on the subject!!
There really is. 🙂 I think a new verse and video is on the docket for my hibernation projects.
Are winters cold where you live?

WOWOWWOWOW!!! That is CRAZYYYYY!!! hahahaha! I'm listening right now. What a trip!!
You hear it?!!! There's a merge point in the bass line that my consciousness glommed onto and it mirrored the tracks to each other in my head!! <3
Oh I heard it within the first few bars!! Man you are GOOOOOD!!! Insert “bowing down to you” emoji here!!
Childhood parlor trick. LOL. I'll tell you the whole story behind it at some point. It's pretty funny. <3
I’d love to hear it!! ✨
Ya...mine is only slightly lighter ;) HA! This is wicked though. Thanks for linking me to it. I've got headphones on because i'm editing an audiobook...and that electric guitar in the left ear is dynamite.
I'm SO GLAD you can hear it - this would be SO difficult to explain!! LOL!
Hahahaha!! Totally!!! 🥰
Just listened - So brilliant.
Thank you so so much for listening and hearing me!!! ✨🥰✨
You sound amazing!!!! Keep letting your light shine, Sister!
